In response to rising concerns over public safety and animal-related hazards, the Chief Secretary of Haryana, Anurag Rastogi, has issued a directive for the immediate and strict enforcement of the Supreme Court’s order on stray animal management. The directive applies to all state departments, municipal bodies, and district administrations across Haryana.

The order aims to handle issues related to stray dogs, cattle and other animals — especially along highways, public roads, and near institutions — where unmonitored animals pose risk to human safety and traffic. The government has urged all agencies to act swiftly, set up dedicated stray-animal management units, and ensure compliance with humane but firm handling protocols.
This decision comes amid increasing public complaints and frequent accidents caused by stray animals. With a unified push from administrative and police departments, officials hope to restore public confidence and curb hazards while ensuring animal welfare.
