Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday chaired a crucial meeting of the High-Powered Works Committee (HPWC) of the Urban Local Bodies Department at Haryana Niwas, underscoring the state government’s focus on strengthening urban infrastructure through transparent and time-bound decision-making. Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goyal was also present during the deliberations.
The meeting reviewed major proposals related to urban development and civic infrastructure across the state. A total of three tenders with an estimated value of ₹136.64 crore were taken up for consideration. Following detailed negotiations with bidders, the cost of these projects was finalized at ₹127.87 crore, resulting in a savings of approximately ₹8.77 crore for the state exchequer. In addition, the committee directed the department to re-invite tenders for one project to ensure better competitiveness and value for public funds.
Among the approved works is a major project under the AMRUT scheme in Faridabad, aimed at providing a reliable water supply system in areas facing gaps in basic civic amenities. The committee also cleared a proposal for mechanized and manual road sweeping in the Ambala Municipal Corporation area, with the objective of improving sanitation standards and enhancing urban cleanliness.
Another significant decision taken during the meeting was the approval of remaining works related to public health services, electrical systems, HVAC and fire-fighting arrangements for the redevelopment of the Shri Mata Sheetla Devi Temple complex in Gurugram. The project is expected to upgrade essential facilities for devotees while ensuring modern safety and service standards.
Emphasizing the importance of effective implementation, Chief Minister Saini directed officials to ensure strict adherence to quality benchmarks and timely completion of all approved projects. He stated that the state government remains firmly committed to reinforcing urban infrastructure, improving service delivery at the grassroots level, and maintaining complete transparency in public works.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Urban Local Bodies) Dr Saket Kumar, along with other senior officers, attended the meeting.
