Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, alleging that it has failed to deliver on its promises and has only misled the people with tall claims. Speaking to mediapersons after attending a public function, the Chief Minister said that despite being in power for nearly four years, the AAP government has little to show on the ground.
Shri Saini remarked that the Punjab government has focused more on rhetoric than real governance, adding that no meaningful development work has been carried out during its tenure. He contrasted this with the pace of development at the national level, stating that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country is witnessing rapid growth along with extensive welfare-oriented initiatives. According to him, India is steadily moving forward on the path of development due to strong leadership and effective implementation of policies.
Addressing the people of Punjab, the Haryana Chief Minister urged them to reflect on whether they want a government that works on the ground or one that survives on promises and slogans. He asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party believes in performance-based politics and is committed to sustained development.
Reiterating the BJP’s agenda for Punjab, Shri Saini assured that all central welfare schemes currently being implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be extended to Punjab once a BJP government is formed in the state. He cited Haryana as an example, stating that nearly 44 lakh people are benefiting from the old age honour allowance scheme in the state. He also highlighted the Ayushman Bharat scheme, under which eligible beneficiaries receive free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in both government and empanelled private hospitals.
Drawing a comparison, he said that the situation in Punjab stands in stark contrast. He alleged that promises made by the AAP government, including the monthly assistance of Rs 1,100 to women, have not been fulfilled so far. He further claimed that the assurance to increase the pension for senior citizens above 70 years of age from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500 also remains unimplemented.
The Chief Minister also referred to the teachings of Sat Guru Ram Singh, who had strongly advocated against drug abuse. He called upon the Punjab government to draw inspiration from this message and take concrete steps to protect the youth of the state from the menace of drugs.
On the occasion, Shri Naib Singh Saini also sought blessings from Satguru Uday Singh. Senior BJP leader Avinash Rai Khanna and several prominent members of the Namdhari community were present at the event.
The remarks by the Haryana Chief Minister come at a time when political temperatures are rising in Punjab, with parties sharpening their attacks ahead of the next electoral battle.
