Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday emphasized that accurate data forms the foundation of sound decision-making and sustainable development, adding that no policy can succeed unless it is based on real and verified facts. Addressing the 29th Conference of Central and State Statistical Organizations held in Chandigarh on the theme “Empowerment of Local Level Governance”, Saini said that statistics play a decisive role in every sector and without precise figures, development remains incomplete. He underlined that empowering governance at the grassroots is not only the need of the hour but also the pathway to fulfilling the aspirations of a new India. When governance is strengthened at the local level, he said, policies do not remain confined to files but are effectively implemented and reach the common man, which reflects the true strength of democracy.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the significant role played by Digital India in transforming data collection processes, ensuring transparency and accuracy, and giving a new dimension to evidence-based policymaking. He stated that the government is committed to using technology for creating robust statistical systems that can support better planning, monitoring and execution of public welfare programmes. Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation Rao Inderjit Singh was also present on the occasion, and together with the Chief Minister released two key reports—Children in India 2025 and Environment Accounting on Forest 2025.
Saini reiterated that authentic data empowers governments to identify real challenges, design targeted interventions and measure their outcomes effectively. He said that the Haryana government is determined to strengthen data-driven governance to ensure that welfare schemes reach the last mile, empowering both institutions and citizens.
