Panic gripped the city on Thursday after bomb threat emails were reportedly sent to three prominent schools, creating a major security alert during ongoing examinations. The threatening messages were received by Vivek High School (Sector 38), Carmel Convent School, and St. John’s School, prompting immediate action by school authorities and law enforcement agencies.

Following the alerts, students were swiftly evacuated and sent home as a precautionary measure, while exam schedules were suspended to ensure safety. The timing of the threats—coinciding with examination days—has heightened concern among parents, educators, and the wider public.
Security agencies, including the local police, bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and intelligence units, rushed to the locations and launched intensive search and sanitisation operations. The Chandigarh administration has put all three campuses under strict security protocols, with controlled access and heightened surveillance.
Authorities have confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is underway to trace the origin of the threatening emails. Cyber units and intelligence agencies are examining the digital trail to identify the sender and assess the credibility of the threat.
Officials have urged the public to remain calm, stating that all necessary preventive measures are being taken and that student safety remains the top priority. The search operations and investigations are ongoing.
