CM Nayab Singh Saini Meets IAS Officer Amneet P. Kumar, Assures Fair Probe into Late IPS Y. Puran Kumar’s Case
In a significant development in the aftermath of senior IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar’s tragic death, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met his wife, IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar, at the family’s official residence in Sector 24, Chandigarh, on Thursday afternoon.
According to official sources, CM Saini arrived at the residence around 12:30 pm and remained there for nearly 45 minutes, offering condolences and assurances of justice to the grieving family. During the meeting, IAS Amneet P. Kumar handed over a detailed two-page memorandum to the Chief Minister, demanding the immediate suspension and arrest of officers named in the case, as well as permanent security cover for her family.
In her letter, Amneet Kumar urged the Chief Minister to ensure that FIRs are promptly registered against all individuals mentioned in her husband’s suicide note and related complaint, emphasizing that any delay could allow manipulation of evidence or influence over the investigation. She also requested the government to safeguard the dignity, safety, and rights of her family, particularly her two daughters, who she said are living under constant fear and emotional distress.
Amneet Kumar described the case as not just a matter of personal tragedy but a “test of faith in justice, equality, and the rule of law.” She said her late husband, IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar, was a man of integrity, discipline, and service, whose dedication to duty had earned widespread respect. “The silence of the system deepens our pain. This is not only about one officer’s death—it is about restoring trust in fairness and accountability,” she stated.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini assured Amneet Kumar of a transparent and impartial investigation, saying that the state government stood firmly with the family in this difficult time. Sources said the CM directed officials to provide necessary protection and support to the bereaved family and to monitor the ongoing probe being conducted by the Chandigarh Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The meeting marks a crucial moment in the ongoing case, highlighting growing public and administrative concern over allegations of systemic harassment, caste discrimination, and mental persecution raised in the late officer’s suicide note.
