Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, during his visit to Punjab on Sunday, paid obeisance at the historic Gurdwara Charan Kanwal Sahib in Machhiwara, Ludhiana, and sought blessings at the revered Sikh shrine. Describing the visit as a deeply humbling experience, the Chief Minister said he felt honoured to stand at a sacred site closely associated with the life and teachings of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Saini recalled the historical significance of the gurdwara, noting that it was at this very place where the tenth Sikh Guru spent time in meditation and imparted lessons of faith, courage, and humanity. He said the Gurus dedicated their lives to the welfare of society and the nation, making unmatched sacrifices to uphold righteousness and justice.

The Chief Minister said that the teachings of the Gurus continue to guide the country and inspire people to serve society selflessly. He described it as a privilege to visit the gurdwara where Guru Gobind Singh Ji lived, walked, and guided humanity through his ideals and actions.

Responding to a question from the media, Mr. Saini said that without the sacrifices of the Sikh Gurus, the course of history would have been very different. He emphasised that their struggles and sacrifices were not for any single community but for the entire nation. He urged people to imbibe their teachings and move forward on the path of unity, service, and compassion.

The Chief Minister also expressed concern over attempts by certain individuals to use religious sentiments for political gain. Without naming anyone, he said making irresponsible or misleading statements about revered Gurus to enhance political standing was inappropriate and condemnable. He added that such language should neither be spoken nor entertained in public discourse.

Several dignitaries were present during the visit, including Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Satnam Singh Sandhu, the Chief Minister’s Officer on Special Duty Dr. Prabhleen Singh, President of the Gurdwara Management Committee Jasbir Singh, and Head Granthi Giani Harcharan Singh.

Later in the day, Mr. Saini visited the ancient Shri Mukteshwar Shiv Temple, also known as Muktidham, in Chahila. There, he performed puja and abhishek, praying for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of the nation and its people.

The Chief Minister’s visit to both religious sites reflected a message of unity, respect for India’s diverse spiritual traditions, and a commitment to the values of harmony and service taught by saints and Gurus.
