Patiala, April 5, 2025 — In a new twist to the Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath assault case, Jaswinder Kaur, the Colonel’s wife, has visited a private hospital in Patiala to secure crucial CCTV footage allegedly linked to the incident. The development follows the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s order to transfer the case investigation to the Chandigarh Police for a fair and impartial probe.

The High Court had earlier directed Civil Lines police to preserve surveillance footage that could shed light on the events surrounding the alleged assault, in which Inspector Ronnie Singh and Constable Randhir are named as accused.

Wife Questions Medical Reports and Intentions

Speaking to the media, Jaswinder Kaur raised serious questions about the validity of the medico-legal reports (MLRs) filed for the accused officers.

“The assault occurred near Rajindra Hospital, yet Ronnie Singh and Randhir went to a private hospital for treatment around 1:20 AM. If they were genuinely injured near Rajindra Hospital, why not seek treatment there like my husband and son did?” she asked.

She asserted that the CCTV footage from the private hospital will clearly show that Randhir was not involved in the physical altercation, challenging the narrative presented in official documents.

Kaur added that the hospital authorities were reminded that as per the High Court’s orders, the digital video recording (DVR) must be preserved and submitted as evidence.

Inspector Ronnie Singh Claims False Implication

In his defense, Inspector Ronnie Singh has maintained that he was falsely implicated. In his petition before the High Court, he claimed that the alleged altercation took place during a raid near Rajindra Hospital, following intelligence about a wanted drug trafficker.

According to Singh, he encountered individuals consuming alcohol in public, allegedly including Colonel Bath and his son. When asked to vacate the area, Singh claims they assaulted him and his team instead.

Ongoing Investigation and Public Scrutiny

The incident has ignited widespread public interest and scrutiny over the police’s handling of the case. The High Court’s decision to transfer the probe to Chandigarh Police indicates potential concerns over local police bias or interference in evidence gathering.

The forthcoming release and examination of the hospital’s CCTV footage are expected to play a pivotal role in determining the truth behind the controversial incident.
