Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini on Saturday termed the death of IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar Singh as a deeply tragic and painful incident. During the BJP state executive meeting held in Panchkula, the Chief Minister, along with senior party leaders, paid homage to the late officer by observing a two-minute silence and praying for peace to the departed soul.
Speaking on the matter, CM Saini said that as soon as the government received information about the officer’s death in Japan, officials were immediately directed to extend assistance and support to his wife and family. “The government stands firmly with the bereaved family in this hour of grief,” he said.
The Chief Minister assured that the case would be investigated thoroughly and impartially, stating that “no one, no matter how influential, will be spared if found guilty.” He further urged the opposition parties not to politicize this sensitive issue, emphasizing that it was the government’s moral and administrative responsibility to ensure that justice is served.
Earlier this week, Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar Singh, serving in the state police, was found dead in Japan under mysterious circumstances. His eight-page suicide note, later recovered, allegedly accused several senior police officers, including the state DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor and Rohtak SP, of mental harassment, caste-based discrimination, and workplace humiliation.
Following a complaint filed by his wife, the Chandigarh Police registered an FIR against 13 officials named in the note and has formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the case, examining digital evidence, call records, and CCTV footage.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage across the state, with demands for a transparent and fair investigation into the circumstances leading to the officer’s death.
