Himachal MLA Kewal Singh Pathania to Represent India at International Powerlifting Championship in Norway

Kewal Singh Pathania, MLA from Shahpur constituency in Himachal Pradesh and a prominent figure in Indian powerlifting, has been selected to represent the Indian Powerlifting Team at the prestigious World Classic and Equipped Bench Press Championship. The event is scheduled to take place in Drammen, Norway, from May 17 to 24, 2025.

Pathania holds multiple key roles in the sport, serving as Vice President of Powerlifting India, President of the Himachal Pradesh Powerlifting Association, and as a certified national referee. His selection is a testament to his dedication to the sport and long-standing contributions at both the national and international levels.

He has previously served as the team manager for India in major international competitions held in the USA, Canada, Dubai, England, and Russia. His vast experience is expected to be a valuable asset for the Indian team in Norway.

The announcement has sparked widespread celebration across Himachal Pradesh, particularly in the Shahpur constituency. Youth and sports enthusiasts have expressed excitement and pride, seeing Pathania’s achievement as a source of inspiration and a positive push toward greater participation in sports across the region.
