The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the Indian squad for the two-match Test series against the West Indies, scheduled to begin on October 2. Devdutt Padikkal has earned a recall to the Test squad, thanks to his impressive performances in recent matches. Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar highlighted Padikkal’s commendable form, citing his half-century on debut against England in Dharamsala and his recent performances for India A.

Rishabh Pant, India’s star wicketkeeper, will miss the series due to a leg injury but is expected to recover in time for the home Tests against South Africa. In his absence, Dhruv Jurel will serve as the first-choice wicketkeeper, with N Jagadeesan as his backup.

Karun Nair, who made a comeback to the Indian team for the England tour, has been dropped from the squad following his poor run in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series. Sarfaraz Khan, another batsman who was expected to make a strong case for selection, has also been left out.
