New Delhi, April 5, 2025 — A shocking incident unfolded in Kirti Nagar locality of Moti Nagar, where a 23-year-old man from Faridabad, Haryana, was allegedly tied to a metal pole and thrashed with leather belts by the relatives of a woman he came to meet.
The victim, Deepak Kumar, claimed that he had befriended the woman a few months ago. On Thursday, he travelled from Faridabad to meet her in Kirti Nagar. However, things took a violent turn when the woman’s father, brother-in-law, and other relatives allegedly appeared at the location and began assaulting him, accusing him of harassing the woman.
Assault in Public: Victim Rescued by Locals
According to Kumar’s statement, the assailants tied him to a metal pole in public and beat him with leather belts. He was only released when local residents gathered at the scene and intervened. Kumar later approached the Moti Nagar police station and lodged a formal complaint.
Following the complaint, police registered an FIR against five individuals, including the woman’s father and brother-in-law.
Police Action and Counter Complaint
ASI Ajmer Singh, who is leading the investigation, confirmed that an FIR under sections 115(2), 127(2), 191(3), 190, and 351(2)(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been filed.
Singh also noted that the accused family members have filed a counter-complaint against Deepak Kumar, which is currently under investigation.
Ongoing Investigation Under BNS Provisions
The Moti Nagar Police are probing both sides of the incident. Investigators are reviewing evidence and eyewitness testimonies to ascertain the sequence of events. As the matter involves allegations of physical assault and harassment, police are proceeding with caution and legal diligence.
