In a significant stride toward uplifting one of Haryana’s most historically underserved regions, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini presided over the 31st meeting of the Mewat Development Board and unveiled a broad, inclusive blueprint for the development of Nuh district. With a firm emphasis on education, healthcare, skill development, and social upliftment, CM Saini declared a slew of welfare schemes and initiatives aimed at integrating Mewat into the mainstream of India’s development story.

Underlining the state’s commitment, the Chief Minister stated that Nuh’s transformation is being driven by sustained efforts of both the Central and State Governments. The turning point, he emphasized, came when Prime Minister Narendra Modi included Nuh in the list of “Aspirational Districts” in 2018 — a central scheme aimed at fast-tracking development in India’s most backward regions. At that time, Nuh stood at the 108th position among 112 districts. Today, it proudly ranks 20th — a dramatic rise symbolizing the tangible shift in governance and development focus on the region.

Highlighting the progress made in sectors like education, healthcare, nutrition, agriculture, water resources, and financial inclusion, CM Saini remarked that Nuh is not just participating in the national growth narrative but emerging as a model of structured and targeted development. With its infrastructural backbone getting stronger by the year, the district is now preparing for a more empowered and self-reliant future.

A standout announcement from the meeting was the launch of the Chief Minister Mewat Chhatra Pratibha Samman Yojana. Under this initiative, students from general and other backward categories scoring above 90% in Classes 10 and 12 will be awarded ₹51,000 each. For Scheduled Caste students, this reward is set at ₹1,11,000 per student. CM Saini emphasized that these steps aim not only to encourage academic excellence but to foster an environment that enables sustained learning and ambition across social strata.

Further, a major administrative shift was announced where the supervision of the Government Model Sanskriti School in Mewat will be transferred from the Education Department to the Mewat Development Authority. This marks an attempt to localize accountability and drive efficiency in education infrastructure.

The government also approved the swift commencement of infrastructure projects such as the construction of the Unani Medical College in village Akera and the Mewat Model College in Ferozepur Jhirka. Simultaneously, work on the Driving Training and Research Institute in village Chhapera will begin in October. A tribute to regional pride, a museum dedicated to Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati will also be built to celebrate local heroes and history.

In a significant push for public facilities, a sports complex worth ₹13.5 crore was approved at the Nuh district headquarters. Additionally, an auditorium will be constructed in Nuh, and a Hunar Haat will be established in the Tawadu block to empower women associated with self-help groups. Transit hostels are also planned for the girls studying at Mewat Model School in Ferozepur Jhirka.

The Chief Minister also unveiled a comprehensive plan to enhance learning spaces across the district. A central library with a seating capacity of 200 students will be constructed in Nuh, while libraries for 100 students each are planned for Punhana, Tawadu, and Ferozepur Jhirka. In larger villages with populations over 5,000, smaller libraries accommodating 50 students will be set up to foster a reading culture and improve access to academic resources.

In the sphere of vocational training and employment, a Skill Innovation Centre will be launched to empower local youth with practical knowledge and enable them for self-employment. In addition, the government is planning to install an efficient water harvesting system in the Aravalli region, aiming to utilize rainwater judiciously. Illegal irrigation connections will be removed to ensure equitable access to water resources in the agricultural sector.

Among the most impactful announcements was the introduction of the Chief Minister Mewat Scholarship Scheme. Youth from Mewat enrolling in professional, technical, tourism, paramedical, or PhD courses will be eligible for a scholarship of ₹75,000 annually or 75% of the tuition fees, whichever is lower. For MBBS courses, the aid rises to ₹1.25 lakh annually, with full tuition coverage if the fee is under that amount in government institutions. Notably, a 17% reservation in this scholarship has been earmarked for candidates from the Hathin area under the Board’s jurisdiction, and 50% of the scholarship seats will be allocated to female students. Further, under the Chief Minister Mewat Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, scholarships will also be offered to students enrolled in Classes 11 and 12, aimed at minimizing dropout rates.

Under the Chief Minister Mewat Utthan Yojana, the government also pledged financial assistance to aspirants preparing for competitive examinations, signaling a long-term commitment to both academic and professional empowerment in the region.

The meeting was attended by key dignitaries including Mewat Development Board Chairman and Gurugram Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Chandra Bidhan and Deputy Commissioner Vishram Meena, who presented the district’s development report and future agenda.

The broad thrust of CM Saini’s developmental vision is clear: to transform Mewat into a dynamic hub of education, health, and economic progress, breaking the legacy of deprivation through sustained policy support and targeted investments. As the district prepares to celebrate Eid, the CM extended warm greetings to all residents, reinforcing the message that inclusive development is the key to social harmony and progress.
