In a significant move to transform Panchkula into a model smart city, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several key infrastructure projects amounting to over ₹55 crore. The day marked not just the announcement of new amenities but a reflection of the government’s broader vision to position Panchkula among the most developed and livable cities in India.

Leading the charge was the inauguration of a crucial bridge over the Ghaggar River, built at a cost of ₹50 crore. This 360-meter-long and 16-meter-wide structure now directly links National Highways 5, 7, and 152, significantly easing traffic congestion and enhancing regional connectivity. Designed as part of the PR-7 Ring Road, the bridge is expected to reduce commuting distances by 5 to 7 kilometers for travelers from Zirakpur, Rajpura, Patiala, and even those heading to the Mohali Airport. With its strategic location, the bridge is poised to become a vital link for people commuting between the southern sectors of Panchkula and Chandigarh as well as parts of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

The Chief Minister also unveiled plans for two new dispensary buildings in Sectors 28 and 31, to be constructed at a cost of approximately ₹4.64 crore. These health facilities, each spread across over an acre of land, are scheduled to be completed within the next twelve months and will provide enhanced healthcare services to the local population. Additionally, a new village secretariat in Kanouli village in Barwala was announced with an allocation of ₹74.38 lakh, further extending grassroots administrative infrastructure in the region. A separate grant of ₹5 crore was also committed to support ongoing rural development in the Panchkula constituency.

While addressing the public, CM Saini reiterated the government’s commitment to transforming Panchkula into a clean, green, and technologically advanced smart city. He emphasized that such initiatives are pivotal in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. According to him, a developed Haryana must include a developed Panchkula, and today’s multi-crore initiatives bring the city a step closer to that goal.

The CM also expressed confidence that these infrastructural investments would flourish under the spiritual canopy of revered local deities like Mata Mansa Devi and Nada Sahib, whose presence he believes bestows prosperity on the region. By laying down modern infrastructure, the government aims to provide a healthier, more efficient, and more sustainable living experience to the citizens.

Further, the Chief Minister detailed ongoing projects that highlight the scale of progress achieved under the current administration over the past decade. These include the establishment of the National Institute of Fashion Technology in Sector 23 at a cost of ₹23.13 crore, a ₹125 crore shooting range in Sector 32, and the state museum in Sector 5 worth ₹8 crore. In the realm of healthcare, the Panchkula Civil Hospital has been upgraded into a 300-bed facility, while construction of the Dr. Mangal Sen Government Medical College and Hospital with an outlay of ₹1,200 crore is underway in Sector 32. Simultaneously, the National Institute of Ayurveda is being developed at Mata Mansa Devi Complex for ₹279 crore.

To improve water accessibility, a 62-crore pipeline has been laid from Sector 39, Chandigarh, bringing Bhakra canal water to Panchkula’s residents. Multiple water treatment plants of varying capacities, costing upwards of ₹125 crore, have also been commissioned to address the city’s growing needs. From a tertiary water treatment facility in Sector 20 to scenic stream rejuvenation projects, every step has been calculated to enhance urban living standards and environmental sustainability.

On the political front, CM Saini did not shy away from challenging the opposition. Responding to Congress’s critique on developmental transparency, he demanded a similar report card from their tenure. He asserted that the current government’s achievements speak volumes under the slogan of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and revealed that out of 240 promises made during elections, 19 have been fully realized while work on 99 others is underway with accelerated progress.

Haryana’s Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao also addressed the gathering, emphasizing that robust healthcare is at the heart of the government’s vision. She noted that the appointment of over a thousand doctors was part of this mission and personally committed to ensuring quality health services reach every citizen. Echoing this sentiment, former Speaker of the Assembly Gyan Chand Gupta thanked the Chief Minister for his dedicated focus on Panchkula’s development and called for the establishment of a university in the city.

The day-long event, attended by several dignitaries including MLA Shakti Rani Sharma, Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal, and senior officials from various state departments, marked a milestone in Panchkula’s developmental journey. The combination of infrastructure growth, healthcare expansion, and a focus on cleanliness and connectivity reflects a comprehensive blueprint for urban transformation.
