Hisar, April 6, 2025 — In a powerful push towards a drug-free Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini flagged off the state-level Cyclothon 2.0 campaign from Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), Hisar, on Saturday. The event marks the beginning of a mass movement aimed at creating awareness against drug abuse across the state.

The route for Cyclothon 2.0 began at Gate No. 1 of HAU, passing through Fletcher Bhawan (HAU administrative block), Rani Lakshmibai Chowk, Fawwara Chowk, Matka Chowk, Camp Chowk, and eventually heading towards Tosham Road. The journey will continue through villages like Dabra, Ladwa, and Sultanpur, entering Bhiwani district via Ratera village.

Massive Participation and Enthusiastic Start

With over 50,000 registrations and 10,000 bicycles arriving at Mahabir Stadium by Friday night, the scale of participation was record-breaking. Thousands of youth, students, NCC and NSS cadets, police personnel, Army members, and common citizens took part in the movement, turning the campaign into a youth-led social revolution.

The Cyclothon is not merely a sporting event, but a historic step toward eradicating drugs and spreading awareness among the masses. Rajesh Kauth, the nodal officer for the campaign, said the initiative reflects the government’s vision of a healthy and drug-free Haryana.

Cultural Programs Spread Anti-Drug Message

To ensure greater outreach, cultural performances were organized during the event, aiming to connect emotionally with the public and especially the youth. Performers like Subhash Fauji, Amit Dhull, Naveen Poonia, Pooja Hooda, and Pradeep Boora inspired the audience through powerful presentations. Artists from the Information, Public Relations and Languages Department also performed, highlighting the dangers and social impact of drug abuse.

Cyclothon to Cover Multiple Districts and End in Sirsa

The Cyclothon will run until April 27, covering several key towns and villages across Haryana. After Hisar and Bhiwani, the route will include Ladwa, Sultanpur, Umra, Ratera, Dhani Kirwar, Tosham, Sagban, and Bapoda, among others, before concluding in Sirsa.

A Campaign That Sparks Statewide Energy and Hope

“This Cyclothon is a symbol of a new beginning,” said CM Nayab Singh Saini. “It’s a movement that combines sports, community, and awareness to fight one of society’s most damaging problems — drug addiction.”

The campaign is already energizing communities and mobilizing youth participation, making it one of the most impactful social awareness drives in recent times in Haryana.
