Security has been significantly heightened at Delhi’s Patiala House Court, anticipating the production of Tahawwur Rana, a key accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, following his extradition from the United States. The 64-year-old Pakistan-born Canadian national, known to be a close associate of David Coleman Headley (Daood Gilani), a US citizen and pivotal figure in the terror conspiracy, is expected to be presented before the court on Thursday.

Rana’s extradition to India comes after his final attempt to block the process was dismissed by the US Supreme Court. In response, law enforcement agencies have implemented stringent security measures at Patiala House Court. Paramilitary forces and Delhi Police personnel have been deployed to ensure thorough physical checks and frisking of all visitors, aiming to prevent any security breaches.

Officials at Tihar Jail have confirmed that preparations are complete to house Rana in a high-security ward, awaiting court orders for his formal custody. Rana, a central figure in the investigation into the devastating 26/11 Mumbai attacks, is being transferred to Delhi from the US, and Tihar Jail is expected to be his place of detention upon arrival.
