In a decisive move to strengthen administrative accountability and curb unlawful activities, Director General of the Mining and Geology Department of Haryana, KM Pandurang, has issued clear directives to all state mining officials. He emphasized the immediate need for resolving pending court cases related to mining operations and ensuring swift recovery of dues from defaulting mining companies.

Chairing a comprehensive review meeting at Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi, Mr. Pandurang addressed key issues that have been slowing down departmental efficiency. Stressing the importance of legal diligence, he instructed that all mining-related cases pending in courts must be actively monitored and pursued through timely legal representation. He called for the preparation of a comprehensive list of all such cases along with a dynamic, regularly updated report on the progress of each.

Mr. Pandurang emphasized that delayed legal resolutions not only hurt the revenue generation of the department but also erode public trust in the enforcement of mining regulations. He added that legal inertia should not become a bottleneck in the department’s functioning and warned that laxity would not be tolerated. The DG also pressed for stronger coordination between the Mining Department and Revenue Department, particularly in resolving issues related to land markings at mining sites.

Another significant point raised during the meeting was the recovery of outstanding dues from various private mining operators. Mr. Pandurang directed the department’s recovery cell to step up efforts and leave no stone unturned in collecting all pending payments. He stated that systematic follow-ups and a result-oriented approach are essential to meet revenue targets and maintain fiscal health.

Taking a strong stance against illegal mining, the Director General urged officials to intensify field patrolling and take strict legal action wherever illegal mining is detected. He emphasized that preventing unauthorized extraction of minerals is critical not just for environmental sustainability, but also for maintaining fair practices within the sector. He reiterated that it is the responsibility of the entire department to create a mining ecosystem based on compliance and transparency.

The DG also reviewed the operational status of all active mining sites across Haryana and took stock of challenges being faced by field officers. He assured that any issues regarding administrative coordination or jurisdiction will be resolved in consultation with the concerned revenue officials, ensuring that mining operations remain streamlined and dispute-free.

Present at the meeting were senior departmental officials including Additional Director Mahendra Pal, State Mining Engineer Dr. Madhavi Gupta, State Geologist Deepak Kumar, along with other officers who shared updates on ongoing operations and legal matters.

The review meeting underlined the state government’s growing focus on strengthening governance in the mining sector, ensuring timely revenue recovery, and eliminating illegal activities through proactive enforcement. Haryana’s mining department, under the leadership of KM Pandurang, is aligning itself with transparent, accountable, and legally robust systems to protect natural resources and boost the state’s economic interests.
