Doctors to Shut OPD Services Temporarily Amid Protest Over Recruitment Policy

Government doctors in Haryana have announced a two-hour pen-down strike on November 27, 2025, keeping OPD services suspended statewide to protest the delay in appointment of Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) and delayed notification of ACP (Assured Career Progression).

The decision was taken by the Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA) after a state-level executive meeting. Doctors had initially planned to strike earlier but postponed the protest in view of a recent high-profile visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The strike has raised concerns among patients and citizens about access to timely medical treatment, especially in rural and semi-urban areas where government hospitals serve as primary healthcare providers. Medical staff demand immediate action on regularising staff positions and transparent recruitment before further disruptions.

This protest highlights persistent challenges within Haryana’s public health system — staffing shortages, recruitment delays, and increasing pressure on existing medical infrastructure.
