The Haryana Technical Education Department today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini. The MoU aims to improve the quality and relevance of technical education in the state and enhance the employability of students. The MoU was signed at the Golden Jubilee Haryana Institute of Financial Management , Sector 3, Panchkula.
This initiativeis a significant step towards developing a robust ecosystem of technical education in Haryana that is future-ready , innovation-driven, and industry-relevant. This collaboration will provide greater employment, entrepreneurship, and skill development opportunities for the state’s youth.
Present on the occasion were Haryana Education Minister Mr. Mahipal Dhanda , Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education Department Mr. A.K. Singh , Director General of Technical Education Department Mr. S. Narayanan , OSD to Chief Minister Dr. Raj Nehru , Director of Technical Education Department Dr. Y.P.S. Berwal and Director of IIT Ropar Prof. Rajiv Ahuja along with senior officials and representatives of both the institutions.
The objective of the MoU is to strengthen the quality, relevance, and industry-oriented approach of technical education through faculty development, modernization of laboratories , curriculum improvement , innovation , entrepreneurship, and industry-oriented skill development. IIT Ropar will provide technical guidance for modernization of laboratories and development of a Centre of Excellence . In addition , support will be provided in organizing faculty development programs, certificate courses , workshops, and exposure visits for faculty and students .
This collaboration will focus on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and data analytics, cybersecurity , renewable energy , electric vehicles , battery technology , robotics and automation , drone technology, and additive manufacturing/ 3D printing. IIT Ropar will also support necessary changes in the technical education curriculum and the promotion of outcome-based education.
This collaborationwill focus on skill development, employability , entrepreneurship, and self-employment for rural youth, enabling students and diploma and degree holders to benefit from advanced technological knowledge and an ecosystem of innovation. The goal is to prepare youth for the changing needs of industry and connect them with new employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.
The agreement will initially be effective for a period of five years and may be extended by mutual consent. Nodal officers will be appointed and a joint coordination committee will be formed to ensure effective implementation of the MoU. This collaboration will not result in any additional financial burden on either party.
