Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah on Saturday addressed the passing out parade ceremony of newly recruited Haryana Police personnel in Panchkula, describing the force as confident, efficient and increasingly technology-oriented, with a strong sense of duty towards public service.

Addressing the gathering, Shah said Haryana Police is steadily moving ahead by treating duty as paramount and embracing modern methods of policing. He noted that this batch holds special significance as it is the first group of Haryana Police personnel to be trained under India’s three new criminal laws and to formally assume duty under the revised legal framework.

The Home Minister said the successful implementation of these new laws depends largely on the competence and commitment of the police force. “The biggest responsibility of trainee police personnel today is not only to enforce the law, but to effectively implement new criminal laws and integrate new technology in the service of the public,” he remarked.

Shah emphasised that when women stand at the forefront of internal security, public confidence in the nation’s safety multiplies. He lauded the growing participation of women in the police force, calling it a strong symbol of social progress and inclusive governance. According to him, the presence of daughters of the country in uniform strengthens both law enforcement and the morale of society.

Highlighting reforms in the criminal justice system, the Union Home Minister said the Modi government is committed to delivering accurate and timely justice through technology-based processes. He explained that digital evidence, scientific investigation, and technology-driven testimony are now being prioritised to make justice delivery faster, transparent and more reliable.

Shah said Haryana Police has taken a leading role in adopting and implementing the three new criminal laws, as well as broader police reforms. He described Haryana as one of the states at the forefront of modern policing, setting an example for others in integrating legal reforms with ground-level enforcement.

Calling upon the newly inducted personnel to remain vigilant, Shah stressed that organised crime networks pose one of the biggest challenges to internal security. He urged the Haryana Police to deal firmly and effectively with syndicates involved in drug trafficking, human trafficking, cyber crime and extortion. “Criminal networks today operate across borders and through digital platforms. Tackling them requires not only courage but also technical expertise and coordinated intelligence,” he said.

The Home Minister also praised the Haryana government for its transparent recruitment process. He said the state has set a strong example by providing government jobs purely on merit, without any financial burden or corruption. “Our government has done commendable work by making Haryana a state where employment is provided without any expenditure. This has strengthened public trust and given deserving youth a fair opportunity,” Shah stated.

Referring to the current batch, Shah said around 5,000 newly recruited youth have joined the Haryana Police based on merit and are now ready to serve and protect the state. He expressed confidence that their training, discipline and commitment would help further strengthen law and order in Haryana.

The Union Home Minister also highlighted the broader internal security achievements of the Modi government. He said sustained efforts over the past decade have brought peace to three major internal security hotspots of the country — Jammu and Kashmir, the Northeast and Naxal-affected regions. According to him, decisive policy measures, improved coordination among security agencies, and development-oriented governance have significantly reduced violence and unrest in these areas.

Shah concluded by urging the new recruits to uphold the values of integrity, discipline and service. He said policing is not just a profession but a mission to safeguard democracy, protect citizens and uphold the Constitution. With new laws, advanced technology and a motivated force, he said Haryana Police is well-positioned to meet emerging challenges and serve as a model of modern policing in the country.
