The Haryana Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that every eligible family in the state has access to housing, placing the goal at the centre of its long-term development agenda under Haryana Vision 2047.

Chairing a high-level review meeting on Thursday, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini directed officials of the Housing for All Department to identify all remaining eligible beneficiaries and prepare a detailed action plan to ensure that housing assistance reaches every deserving household across the state.

The meeting, held at the Haryana Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh, focused on the department’s five-year roadmap and future strategy aimed at expanding housing coverage and strengthening implementation mechanisms.

Addressing senior officials, the Chief Minister emphasized that providing shelter to citizens remains one of the government’s foremost priorities. He said both the Central and State Governments are working in mission mode to ensure that no eligible family is left without a permanent roof over its head.

At the same time, he issued a strong warning against misuse of welfare schemes. The Chief Minister stated that strict action would be taken against any official found responsible for extending housing benefits to ineligible individuals or families.

Officials informed the meeting that multiple housing initiatives are currently being implemented across the state, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), Mukhyamantri Shahri Awas Yojana, Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana 2.0, and the distribution of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) housing units in licensed colonies.

According to the department’s presentation, financial assistance amounting to nearly ₹2,375 crore has already been provided to facilitate housing support for more than 2.31 lakh families under various schemes. Officials said the department is now preparing a fresh strategy to identify and assist the remaining eligible households.

The review also revealed that more than 10,600 plots and flats are ready for allocation. The Chief Minister directed authorities to expedite the allotment process and ensure that these housing units are handed over to eligible beneficiaries without unnecessary delays.

Highlighting the importance of transparency, the Chief Minister instructed officials to make beneficiary lists publicly available through Gram Panchayats. The move, he said, would allow local communities to verify whether recipients genuinely qualify under the schemes.

He noted that public scrutiny would help strengthen accountability and prevent irregularities in the implementation process. If any case of wrongful allotment is established, action would be initiated against the responsible officials and employees.

The Chief Minister also stressed the need to ensure that vulnerable and economically weaker sections of society are not excluded from government support. In this regard, he directed the department to consider concessions in registration charges for poor families belonging to nomadic communities, many of whom face difficulties in accessing housing benefits due to financial constraints.

Officials said the proposed roadmap aims not only to increase housing coverage but also to improve the quality and transparency of welfare delivery. The strategy forms part of the broader Haryana Vision 2047 framework, which seeks to enhance living standards, strengthen social infrastructure and promote inclusive growth across urban and rural areas.

The government believes that access to secure housing is a key component of social welfare and economic development. By accelerating housing delivery and tightening oversight mechanisms, the administration hopes to ensure that public resources reach those who genuinely need assistance.

With thousands of housing units ready for distribution and fresh beneficiary identification underway, the state government is positioning affordable housing as one of its flagship welfare priorities in the years ahead.
