Reaffirming the Haryana government’s commitment to responsive governance and citizen-centric administration, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday said that the holistic development of Gurugram and the swift resolution of public grievances remain among the state’s top priorities. Chairing the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee meeting in Gurugram, the Chief Minister directed officers to handle all public service matters with utmost sensitivity, accountability and urgency, stressing that negligence at any level will not be tolerated.
CM Saini made it clear that Gurugram, as one of Haryana’s most important economic and urban centres, requires focused administrative attention. He said the government is closely monitoring every issue related to infrastructure, civic amenities and citizen welfare in the district to ensure timely relief to residents and sustained momentum in development works. “Public interest must always come first. Officers should approach people’s problems not as files, but as responsibilities entrusted to them by the government and the public,” the Chief Minister said.
The meeting was attended by Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Pataudi MLA Bimla Chaudhary and Sohna MLA Tejpal Tanwar, along with senior administrative and departmental officers. A total of 17 complaints were placed before the committee, out of which CM Saini resolved 12 cases on the spot. For the remaining five matters, he issued clear instructions to concerned departments to submit detailed status reports in the next meeting, underscoring his zero-tolerance approach towards delays.
One of the key highlights of the meeting was the Chief Minister’s strong intervention on the poor condition of roads in Gurugram. Taking serious note of complaints regarding the dilapidated stretch from Umang Bhardwaj Chowk in Sector-10A via Gadoli to the Dwarka Expressway, CM Saini directed officials to make the road pothole-free within 24 hours. He further instructed that any encroachment along the stretch must be removed immediately on priority.
Emphasising inter-departmental coordination, CM Saini said that irrespective of whether roads fall under HSIIDC, the Municipal Corporation or the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, all damaged roads across the district must be repaired and made fully motorable within one month. “Citizens do not differentiate between departments. It is the government’s collective responsibility to ensure safe and smooth roads,” he said, setting a firm deadline for execution.
Demonstrating decisive leadership, CM Saini also reviewed the long-pending road obstruction issue raised by the Carnation Residency Residents Welfare Association in Sector-85. He recalled that during the previous meeting, he had constituted a special committee to examine the matter. Acting on the committee’s report, the concerned private land has now been purchased by the builder and the process of demolishing old structures on the site has already begun.
The Chief Minister announced that a 24-metre-wide connecting road will be constructed within two weeks, providing direct connectivity between Sector-86 main road and the Dwarka Expressway. This intervention is expected to benefit more than 7,000 residents and around 800 school students by significantly easing daily commuting. RWA representatives expressed gratitude to CM Saini, stating that his prompt hearing, sensitivity and decisive action finally resolved an issue that had remained unresolved for years.
Addressing another major civic concern, CM Saini took cognisance of persistent waterlogging problems in Surat Nagar Phase-1. He directed officials to ensure a permanent solution within one month by improving drainage systems and undertaking comprehensive renovation of affected lanes. He instructed that immediate measures, including the installation of pumps wherever required, be taken to drain out accumulated water without delay.
The Chief Minister also ordered regular monitoring of the work and warned that strict action would be taken against officers if projects are not completed within stipulated timelines. “Time-bound delivery is the essence of good governance. Accountability will be fixed wherever delays occur,” he asserted.
Senior officials including Gurugram Mayor Raj Rani Malhotra, Principal Advisor (Urban Development) D.S. Dhesi, GMDA CEO P.C. Meena, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar, OSD to the Chief Minister and Additional Director of the Information, Public Relations and Languages Department Vivek Kalia were present during the meeting.
The Gurugram review meeting once again highlighted Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s governance style, marked by direct engagement, strict timelines and on-the-spot decision-making. By placing public convenience, infrastructure repair and grievance redressal at the heart of Haryana’s administrative agenda, CM Saini is steadily reinforcing the message that development under his leadership is not just about planning, but about prompt delivery and visible impact on the ground.
