Haryana Police Launches Data-Driven Crackdown on 849 High-Risk Drug Smugglers
In a major offensive against drug trafficking, the Haryana Police has compiled a live list of 849 high-risk drug smugglers, each with three or more cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in the past decade. This list has been circulated to all field units across the state, accompanied by strict orders for targeted enforcement.
The Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) is spearheading the initiative, which marks a permanent structural shift in the state’s anti-drug strategy. According to HSNCB chief O P Singh, the goal is clear:
“If you’re in the trade, you’re in the crosshairs.”
849 Repeat Offenders Under Constant Surveillance
The live list, continuously updated by state police headquarters, offers district-wise tracking of each smuggler’s legal status, activity level, and enforcement history. Key figures from the list include:
- 730 drug traffickers currently out of jail
- 130 offenders behind bars
- 381 identified as active, still operating supply chains
- 468 flagged as inactive
- 11 traffickers have died in the past 10 years
This initiative aims at data-driven disruption of drug networks, focusing on repeat offenders who manipulate bail, trial delays, and weak follow-ups to stay in business.
Sirsa, Fatehabad & Yamunanagar Identified as High-Risk Zones
The districts with the highest concentration of drug smugglers are:
- Sirsa – 117 names, with 106 still outside jail
- Fatehabad & Yamunanagar – Notorious drug trafficking hotspots
“These districts have long been vulnerable corridors for smuggling,” a senior HSNCB official confirmed.
Tech-Driven Enforcement: e-Tribune Portal & Cyber Forensics Lab in Action
To ensure streamlined enforcement, all districts must register cases on the e-Tribune Portal—a centralized digital platform for tracking financial investigations and conviction reports.
Additionally, the state’s Cyber Forensics Lab has been directed to prioritize support for investigating officers in decoding:
✅ Mobile data
✅ Financial transactions on digital apps
✅ Encrypted digital trails
Haryana’s Toughest Crackdown Yet: Smugglers Can No Longer Hide
O P Singh, a 1992-batch IPS officer, made the state’s stance clear:
“This is not about chasing foot soldiers. This is about collapsing the ecosystem. The myth that traffickers can hide behind trial delays, shell accounts, or digital camouflage—it ends now.”
With Haryana’s 849 repeat offenders under a microscope, assets under scrutiny, and tightened surveillance, the message is loud and clear
