Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav has firmly rejected claims of any impending split within his party, asserting that the SP remains united and resilient despite repeated political challenges over the years.
Responding to recent remarks made by Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar, who suggested that several SP leaders were preparing to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Yadav dismissed the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.

Addressing a press conference, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said the Samajwadi Party has successfully weathered numerous political storms and continues to stand as a strong and cohesive political force.
“The Samajwadi Party is united and fully capable of facing every challenge. Throughout its journey, the party has seen many ups and downs, but it has emerged stronger each time,” Yadav said.
Taking a swipe at the BJP, Yadav alleged that it was the ruling party that had a history of encouraging defections and weakening opposition parties through political pressure and inducements. He claimed that in the past, several SP legislators, members of the Legislative Council and even Rajya Sabha members were drawn away from the party.
“Whenever people leave a political party, there are often factors such as personal interests, pressure or fear involved. Those who lose courage choose a different path, but the Samajwadi Party continues to move forward with committed workers and leaders,” he remarked.
Yadav emphasized that challenging the BJP requires determination and conviction. He said that any political movement seeking to provide an alternative to the ruling party must be backed by courageous individuals willing to stand by their principles.
He also recalled that he had earlier made it clear that he was not interested in engineering defections from other political parties. Instead, he said, the focus of the Samajwadi Party remains on strengthening its organisation and serving the people.
Commenting on speculation regarding political realignments, Yadav suggested that the BJP should be more concerned about dissatisfaction within its own ranks rather than spreading rumours about opposition parties.
“The Samajwadi Party is focused on public issues and remains committed to its ideology. Our strength comes from the trust of the people and the dedication of our workers,” he said.
The SP chief’s remarks come amid renewed political debate in Uttar Pradesh ahead of upcoming electoral contests, with opposition parties seeking to consolidate their support base and strengthen their organisational structures across the state.
Political observers view Yadav’s statement as an attempt to send a clear message that the Samajwadi Party remains united and confident as it prepares for future political challenges.
